Synopsis
An audiovisual exploration of personal trauma in which an answering machine rings, without anyone around to hear it. Culminating in a figurative expression of dysphoria, dissociation, and depersonalization.
Artist Statement
The creation of this film was wrought with difficulty deliberating on what i wanted the film to say, or if i even wanted it to say anything at all; the subject matter became extremely personal as a result of trauma i experienced during my time at Emily Carr, and the more i tried to write about anything else, the more difficult it became to write anything at all. This film for me represents a catharsis of the violence i had experienced, and an attempt to codify it in a way that it may be expunged from my subconscious. The messages i leave are for some unspecified future self.

I am a transgender woman born and raised in BC. I studied numerous disciplines at EC; from 3D and 2D animation, to motion graphics, after effects, music composition, and sound design. A lot of my artistic inspiration has always been drawn from innumerable experimental and avant garde artists, animators, and musicians. Artists such as Jesse Kanda, Daniel Lopatin, Tim Hecker, Porpentine Charity Heartscape, and Nate Boyce to name a scant few. My future aims are simply to be able to support myself as an artist, and I desire to work in the local animation industry until such time that I might be able to explore avenues for independent experimental media arts.
