Synopsis
A girl befriends a snake in the yard, and learns that sometimes the best way to keep a friend is to let him go.
Artist Statement
"Home Sssweet Home" is loosely based on a true childhood story, and represents the bond I thought was forming with my new pet snake at the time. In the true version of events, it escaped and I had to learn an important lesson about animals and their place in nature. I took inspiration from the experience, and thought it made a great metaphor for growing up and learning how to put others' needs ahead of your own.

Rebecca Aaron Proteau is a Canadian filmmaker. During childhood, she was inspired by the animation and creativity behind children's cartoons like "Cardcaptor Sakura", "Pokemon", "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and its successor, "The Legend of Korra". Later in life she took an interest in feminism and social justice, and has come to believe that children's media is the perfect medium to tackle these issues in a constructive way.
