Artist's Statement
Nowadays so many people are focused on their phones and not paying attention to their surroundings. It is not uncommon to hear stories of people getting into unfortunate accidents because they were too busy looking down and texting while walking. I wanted to make a film that would address that issue and hopefully bring attention to how often we are stuck looking at a screen. In addition, I also wanted the film to portray a positive message that even if one does not have their device with them, it can be a good excuse to go outside and get some fresh air or do something active.
Filmmaker’s Biography
I was born in China and moved to Canada at a very young age. Throughout much of my childhood, I grew up watching a lot of cartoons and playing video games. I have many fond memories of the shows I watched, and as a result it inspired me to pursue a career in animation. I want to be able to recreate those same feelings I had as a child, and to share their joy and messages with the world through storytelling and animation. After Emily Carr, I will continue to practice my animation skills and hopefully land a job in the industry.
