Synopsis
Eve the Sheep is abducted from her simple life and subjected to a series of tests to make her “civilized”.
Artist Statement
On the surface, Hey, Ewe! is a fun cartoon about a sheep who gets put in an unfamiliar environment. In addition to making an entertaining short film, I intended Hey, Ewe! to be a film about humanization and dehumanization. It is about how the institutions we consider "civilizing" can also be used in oppressive ways.
Bio
Benjamin Buckley is a 2D animator from Rossland, BC. His latest work stars a funny cartoon sheep, who is put into a chilling and unforgiving environment which serves as a metaphor for how power structures in society interact with our identities and our behaviour. It is a comedy. When he's not animating, Ben can be found reading boring textbooks that nobody finds interesting except him, attempting to teach himself Baroque counterpoint, worrying whether he overthinks things too much, and worrying about whether he worries about overthinking things too much too much.
