Film Synopsis:
Dummy is a Black comedy short film. Newton decides to step out of his comfort zone and plans a heist with Hawking. They had never seen each other before; except they were chatting on anonymous website before. They encounter a strange dummy along the way, and Newton decides to take the dummy with them on their road adventure.

Artists Statement:
Storytelling has been paramount to my artistic practice and am drawn to stories that play with a mélange of fiction and non-fiction narratives. Newton and Hawking represent the primal instincts of human beings, their last revolt against the fabric of human society. In this absurd world, how do we judge good and evil? Maybe we are all dummy, which is silent, stupid, controlled.

Filmmaker’s Biography:
Liao Yi is a filmmaker and cinematographer based in Vancouver, BC. who is currently a student in Film + Screen Art major at Emily Carr University of Art + Design. He always focus on the aesthetics of film. The camera is his emotional expression of the world ,the film is his way of expressing himself.
